Kühne Logistics University (KLU) in Hamburg, Germany, one of Germany’s top research-based private business schools (AACSB accredited), is looking for Project Manager International Development to support operations and business development of KLU‘s branch campuses in Asia (ongoing), Africa (to be set up), and the Americas (also to be set up) and to make KLU one of the leading logistics educators in Asia, Africa, and the Americas

Who We Are:
Founded in 2010, Kühne Logistics University (KLU) is a private, internationally accredited business school headquartered in Hamburg, Germany, specializing in logistics and supply chain management. We are currently expanding our global footprint to Southeast Asia, where we are establishing KLU’s first international branch campus in Vietnam’s bussing business and logistics hub, Ho-Chi-Minh-City. In a next step of this internationalization journey, we are preparing the launching of a second and third campus in Africa and Latin America. In so doing, we follow our mission to contribute to local capacity building and knowledge transfer in the field of logistics, operations and supply chain management. Our programs are designed to prepare leaders for the supply chain challenges of a global business landscape. 
 
About the Role:
As Project Manager for International Development based at KLU’s headquarters in Hamburg, you will be working at the heart of our international business development and operations of our first branch campus in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, as well as in the preparation and the setting up of a second and third branch campus in Africa and Latin America. 
You’ll bring strong understanding and passion for international higher education (systems), strong relationship skills in intercultural contexts, strong coordination / project / process management skills, an innovative mindset, and a passion to create meaningful educational experiences for students and corporate customers in emerging markets.
In your role, you will be supporting and sparing the Head of International Development at the Hamburg Headquarters in all relevant strategic, administrative and operational tasks.
Your Responsibilities
Support Head of International Development in all strategic, administrative and operational aspects in establishing/growing KLU’s branch campuses in Asia, Africa and Latin America from scratch:
  • Developing go-to-market and business strategies (incl. business plan) for KLU’s operations in Asia well as for entering the higher education market in Africa and Latin America. 
  • Establishing, intensifying, and strengthening partnerships with university partners   on all continents.
  • Ramping up the local/regional teams on all three continents and support their onboarding and strong integration in KLU Headquarters’ team and processes. 
  • Coordinating the implementation of cross-organizational and cross-departmental processes for KLU branch campuses in alignment with KLU headquarters in Hamburg for all related business areas (from HR, over finance and accounting, but also all process related to the entire student lifecycle). 
  • Coordinating degree program accreditation, legal and licensing processes for setting up program portfolio and legal subsidiaries of KLU on all three continents. 
  • Supporting KLU’s management both at headquarter as well as regional level in developing the regional ecosystems at the intersection of academia, industry and NGOs but, local authorities and governments.  
  • Collaborate closely with KLU’s Executive Board (MDs, Dean of Programs, Directors) as well as the local teams on strategic, administrative and operational aspects. 
Your qualifications
  • Operations Mindset: You’re driven to initiate and own projects and processes, with a proactive, pragmatic approach to solving challenges and feel comfortable navigating ambiguity.
  • Experience in and Passion for Learning & (Higher) Education: You have a strong personal affinity and passion for learning and development, you have min. 3 years of experience in international higher education, knowledge of and experience in working with universities in emerging economies is a plus. 
  • Excellent People & Intercultural Communication Skills: You are persuasive, able to navigate and coordinate a multitude of int. stakeholders and intercultural communication levels incl. int. academic partners, students and faculty members, cooperation partners from industry, NGOs and governmental agencies. 
  • You like to travel and discover new cultures and people:  You are open to traveling internationally to Asia, Africa and the Americas up to 3 times a year for a min. of one week stay (incl. weekends).
  • Solid Project / Process Management Skills: You have experience in managing projects and/or establishing and optimizing internal processes (ideally across departments), you are strong in prioritizing tasks according to changing project requirements and environments (agile mindset/approach, ambiguity tolerance).
  • Language Skills: You have excellent English language skills; knowledge of German and/or Spanish is a plus.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • University degree in business administration, management, communication, international relations or related fields.
  • Experience / qualifications in (agile) project management, start-up environments.
